Networks of Labour. International officers and formal networks in the history of the International Labour Organization, curato da Stefano Gallo (settembre 2024)
Collana Quaderni (n°7)
Dall'introduzione del curatore «The essays collected in this volume attempt to [explore] the theme of networks from different angles and contexts. These networks are built through the interplay between internal national networks and external ones, creating an interesting scale interplay. Networks overlap and compete, threatening the existence of transnational entities that depend on them. They also focus on formation and education, thereby fostering the proliferation of knowledge with a transnational foundation. [...]
In fact, the story of this book began at the end of 2018, six years ago. At that time, Gianni Rosas, Director of the ILO Office for Italy and San Marino, sought the collaboration of the Italian Society for Labour History (SISLav) for the celebration of the ILO’s 100th anniversary. [...] A working group on ILO history was then established within SISLav. It organized a series of three online meetings [...]. Finally, a major conference in Rome focused precisely on the theme of this volume: the challenge of capturing the astonishing complexity of the historical object ILO and its evolution over time, through the lens of networks. Like any complex product, this book, which discusses networks, owes its existence to some existing networks and, at the same time, has altered them, creating new ones» (pp.17-18)
